Target: Aircraft Depot, Delitzsch, Germany

No. 7. Leipzig [Delitzsch], August 16, 1944:
[Editor's Note: The Official 398th Mission this day was to Delitzsch, Germany; Leipzig is about 10 miles to the south.]

8 hours flying time.

Bomb load 10, five-hundred pound incendiary bombs (IB).

This time we went out to hit the Delitzsch Aircraft Depot and, from later reports, we did a good job of it. The barrage at the target was light and our ship got through it without a scratch. Fighters hit the 41st Group behind us (Christopher’s Group) knocking down seven ships.
