**9 November 1944**
**Target:** Gun Emplacements in the Siegfried Line
Metz, France
No. 1 Nov. 9,1944 Bombed at 27,000 ft. The target was a large fortification full of gun emplacements in the Siegfried line. It was about 5 miles so. of Metz and 10 miles east of General Patton’s army. No fighters and only 4 bursts of flak-below us about 50 ft.-low. I was almost petrified. I flew with Glenn Curtis-Currigan’s wife’s brother.

Lt. Robert H. Dee, Jr. was the regular Co-Pilot for the Byron L. Magness 601st Crew. On occasion, he flew with other crews.
