Lt. Robert H. Dee, Jr.'s Diary
Co-Pilot, 601st Squadron

Dee's Mission No.
4

26 November 1944
Target:
Synthetic Oil Plant, Misburg, Germany

No. 4
Nov. 26,1944

The mission was to Misburg. The target was a synthetic oil plant which supplied about 10% of German oil. The results were good. The flak was moderate and accurate. The lead ship was shot down. We only got 2 holes. On the way home we were fired on near the Zieder Zee. South of the Zieder Zee I saw some rockets shooting toward England (V-2’s). They sped up at a terrific rate, and disappeared way up. On returning it was foggy, so we landed at the 447th at Ruddlestone, and spent the night. We returned here the next day. Fighters hit some groups behind us. 400 fighters, and 120 shot down. We lost 34 bombers.
