October 30, 1944
Today we flew our first combat mission and boy I guess I never was as scared today as I ever will be. The mission turned out to be an easy one. No flak or fighters. We bombed the Marshalling yards at Hamm. We flew at twenty-six thousand and it was forty-five below zero.
