February 9, 1945

Today we flew our twenty-second combat mission. We bombed the railway bridge at Paderborn [Altenbeken]. There was no flak over the target but we did get some at the coast of Holland. We bombed from twenty-five thousand. On oxygen four hours.

Editor's Note: The 398th official target was Altenbeken; Paderborn is about 20 km away. Mr. Forsyth probably just chose the name of the larger city for his diary.
