Had school all day. Boy! It’s sure miserable. Didn’t finish up until 9 pm.

April 30, 1944
More school, some of the boys flew 7 hours practice mission. I’m sure getting sick of this damn army. Was busy until bedtime.

May 1, 1944
Got up at 0345 and flew two practice bombing missions. The country’s pretty nice. Was busy until 2200. Got paid 19 lbs, 8 shillings, 10 pence.

May 2, 1944
Slept ‘til noon. Spent the whole afternoon doing my laundry. They’re starting to load our plane with 500 pounder G.P. bombs for our first combat mission. I hope it’s Berlin. I want a little excitement.

May 3, 1944:
No mission. Just another day.

May 4, 1944:
Got up at 0400. Flew until 1400 with a full load of 1000 pounders. The armorers changed our bomb load. Fixed the stove in our barracks.

Nothing to do today. Slept late and killed the rest of the day.
