T/Sgt. Armand Fugge's Diary
Engineer/Top Turret Gunner 600th Squadron

Fugge Mission No.
11

7 June 1944
Target:
Airfield, Kerlin-Bastard, France

June 7, 1944
Slept late. Pulled a mission this afternoon. Takeoff was 1655 and we carried 12 – 500 lb. G.P.’s. Our target was an airfield at Kerlin Bastard close to Lorient on the Brest Peninsula. The target was clear and flak was moderate. German war ships fired at us off the coast on our way home. We flew right on because our bombs were away already. The channel was full of allied warships and landing craft. One Fort ditched. Landed at 2315 during a purple alert and in a pelting rain.

MISSION # 11 COMPLETED.
