T/Sgt. Armand Fugge's Diary
Engineer/Top Turret Gunner 600th Squadron

Fugge Mission No.
29

31 July 1944
Target:
Rail Yards, Munich, Germany

July 31, 1944
Got up at 0500. Briefed at 0600. Went to communion first with Leo.

Our target for today was the jet propelled aircraft engine plant at Munich, Germany. Our secondary target was the rail yards there. Take off was 0900. Carried 10 – 500 lb. G.P.’s.

Saw occasional burst of flak on the way in. We hit the rail yards through 6/10 undercast. Flak was heavy and accurate at the target. Got shot up pretty bad and caught some more flak on the way home. Our navigator and Leo who was flying as tail gunner had a couple of real close ones. Fighters were in the area. No planes lost from our group. Thank God. We flew in north of Belgium then straight into the target. Landed at 1730.

MISSION # 29 COMPLETED. Three more to go.
