T/Sgt. Armand Fugge's Diary
Engineer/Top Turret Gunner 600th Squadron

Fugge Mission No.
30

3 August 1944
Target:
Rail Yards, Saarbrucken, germany

August 3, 1944
Was awakened at 0730. Our target for today was a locomotive repair station at the rail yards of Saarbrucken, Germany.

Take off was 1100. Flew in over Brussels and caught a little flak there. Carried 12 – 500 lb. G.P.’s and bombed from 25,000 ft. visual through a 3/10 undercast. Bombs were away at 1510. Flak was moderate and damn accurate. We flew lead in the low element of the low group. Boy ! It was a hot position this time. We did a neat job on the target. Landed at 1730. The D.F.C. will now be awarded me.

MISSION # 30 COMPLETED SAFELY, Thank God. Two more to go.
