July 26, 1944
Embarked POE [Port of Entry], New York on a “Banana Boat” headed for the ETO [Eastern Theater Operations] by convoy.

August 8, 1944
Docked at Liverpool, England.

August 9, 1944
Arrived at Stone, England by train.

August 14, 1944
Left Stone, England to go to “The Wash” for two weeks for a refresher gunnery course.

August 26. 1944
Left “The Wash”, and went to the 398th Bomb Group at Nuthampstead, England, which was in the First Combat Wing of the First Division of the 8th Army Air Corps.

September 2, 1944
Our crew became operational as a combat crew, and was cleared for Flying missions.
