Mission: Brunswick, Germany

We bombed PFF at 25,000 feet another automotive works. The temperature was –40 degrees. We were airborne 8-1/2 hours with 4-1/2 hours on oxygen. We encountered light to moderate flak. There was no battle damage. Enemy fighters were reported in the area, but we did not see any. We could not see the ground at any time on the mission. On returning home, our field at Nuthampstead was zeroed in from bad weather, so we landed at the 91st Bomb Group base at Basingbourne, England, and came back to Nuthampstead by truck.
