Mission: Mannheim, Germany We bombed a bridge connecting the two cities. It was in direct support of ground troops, namely General Pattons 3rd Army to prevent the enemys retreat across the Rhine River at that sector. We encountered no flak, and no battle damage. We were airborne 8-1/2 hours, and on oxygen 4 hours. I was scared of this target, as the last time here we lost Colbert, and just made it back. I could not understand why there was no flak. I was glad that it was over. We did not hit the bridge. |
