S/Sgt. Kenneth A. Green's Diary
Gunner, 603rd Squadron

Green
Mission No.
20

1 February 1945
Target
Mannheim, Germany

February 1, 1945
Mission: Mannheim, same target as above to hit that bridge. We bombed at 22,000 feet. We encountered light, inaccurate flak. The temperature was –46 degrees. We were airborne 8 hours and 50 minutes. It was not like the days in September. It was a “milk run” compared to the first raids on it. The bomb strike reported that we had knocked out the bridge. We won’t go back there again.
