February 22, 1945
Mission: Stendal, Germany

We bombed at 13,000 feet. The temperature was –10 degrees. This raid was an all out bombing of Germany. More than 2,000 bombers took part. The 15th Air Force from Italy was with us on this raid. All transportation of any sort was to be knocked out. No flak was encountered at this target, and we could see our own bombing results from our low altitude. We hit our marshalling yard target dead center. The smoke from other targets in the vicinity was rising as high as 20,000 feet.
