Mission: Huls, Germany
We bombed PFF at 28,000 feet, and hit marshalling yards and also in direct support of the ground troops and got excellent results. The temperature was 62 degrees. That is the coldest yet for us. We encountered light, but inaccurate flak. We were airborne 7-1/2 hours, and 3 hours on oxygen. This was my last mission with Pinner and the boys. We sang Ragged But Right over the interphone with Tebber, the co-pilot for the last time. We suffered no hits, and no battle damage. I will sure miss flying with them. Today was Lucass last mission. He is finished and is waiting for me to do that.
Note: The diary indicates Essen, but the official mission that day was to Huls, Germany.
