S/Sgt. James Lafayette Holloway's Diary
Tail Gunner 601st Squadron

Holloway Mission No.
18

18 April 1945
Target
Rosenheim, Germany

April 18, 1945 – Mission # 18, target Rosenheim, 9 1/2 hours, clear, 18,000 feet, meager flack at beginning of bomb run. Saw bombs explode in target area, a long haul for us guys. These yards were on the German side of the Brenner Pass and the rail line carried troops and supplies back and forth over the Brenner Pass to Italy.

Note: The orginal diary indicated a date of April 17 for a mission to Rosenheim but after investigation, Mr. Holloway concluded that the date must have been April 18. Thus April 18 is used in the text. This data then matches the official 398th listing of a April 18, 1945 mission to Rosenheim.
