S/Sgt. Chilton H. Jorgenson's Diary
Ball Turret Gunner 601st Squadron

Jorgenson's Mission No.
5

23 May 1944
Target:
Saarbrucken, Germany

Mission # 5
May 23, 1944

Today we bombed Saarbrucken, Germany. Time 7 hours and 30 minutes. We were supposed to bomb the Railroad Yards but from the rumors we hit the town itself. It use to bother me thinking about bombing towns with women and children, but after seeing what they did to London it's all OK to do it now. Lt. Gustaves is now Capt. Gustaves, as of the 19th. Rumors are that we are going to lose him.
