May 6, 1944 Mission: Sottevast on the Cherbourg Peninsula, France Target: Secret Invasion construction Load: 1700 gals of gas, six-1,000 lb bombs Altitude: 21,000 feet Remarks: P-38 fighter support all the way. Flack scared the hell out of me for the first time. No battle damage. Could not drop the bombs because of solid under cast. Flight Time: 4:20 hours
