Mission: Lutzkendorf near Micheln, Germany, near Leipzig & Merseberg.

Load: 12-500 lb. bombs, 2700 gals of gas

Target: Gas Works

Altitude: 24,000 feet

Remarks: There was Fighter support all the way, P-51s, P-38s, & P-47s. Flak caused 3 holes battle damage one division. The flak was accurate but no fighters. There was daylight looking in on my head from a hole in the plane. Hit target. Mission semi success. Saw B-17 explode.

Day's loss: 42 bombers, 10 fighters
