Date: June 24, 1944 Mission No. 19 Location of target: Belloy-sur-Somme, 5 miles north of Amiens, France Type of target: Rocket bomb emplacements Load: 21,000 gals of gas, & 18-250 lb. bombs Altitude: 25,000 feet Flight Time: 5:25 hours Force of raid: One group of 12 planes. 3 similar formations from the 398th Bomb Group went to targets rear. Position: #3 of high squadron. Opposition: Flak, concentrated and inaccurate. Battle damage: None Results: 10/10th coverage, brought bombs back. Remarks: Should have had an alternate target on the beachhead to drop our bombs. Very clear there. |
