T/Sgt. George W. Forsyth's Diary
Engineer/TT Gunner 602nd Squadron

Foryth's Mission No.
35

8 April 1945
Target:
Oil Storage Plants, Derben, Germany

April 8, 1945

Today is about the happiest day of my life because we flew our last mission. We bombed the oil storage plants at Derben. There was little flak over the target but it was on the low squadron. We left the target and zig zagged all over Germany. We saw our first Jerry fighters. Two F. W. 190’s and our fighters drove them away before they could hit us. When we got back we buzzed the field and landed. Were on oxygen four hours.
