T/Sgt. Armand Fugge's Diary
Engineer/Top Turret Gunner 600th Squadron

Fugge Mission No.
2

7 May 1944
Target:
Rail Yards, Berlin, Germany

May 7, 1944
I was up at 0100. Briefed and takeoff was 0600. Our target was Berlin, Germany. Carried 5 – 1000 lb G.P. Bombs. It was the 8th U.S. raid on that target. I got really ( scared) when the flak started to pop pretty close. Flak was heavy and accurate. We all got the scare of our lives but no one was injured. Thank God. No enemy fighters. Bombed from 26,00 feet with a .5 undercast. Went straight in through France. 7 hours on oxygen. Landed at 1455. Got 8 hrs. 55min. combat time in.

MISSION # 2 COMPLETED
