Return to Nuthampstead June 12, 2008 through June 17, 2008

Thursday, June 12, 2008 – B, L**

  • Leave Heathrow Hotel at 9:30 am
  • Chartwell
  • Lunch at Chartwell
  • Depart Chartwell at 4:30 pm
  • Transportation to Crowne Plaza, Cambridge

Friday, June 13, 2008 – B**

  • Transportation from Crowne Plaza to other East Anglia 8th AF bases
  • Depart Crowne Plaza at 9:00 am
  • Horham
    • Home of the 95th Bomb Group (H)
    • Site of the Red Feather Club
    • Restored Nissen Hut with original paintings on the wall
  • Pub lunch
  • Arrive at Thorpe Abbotts Museum 2:30 pm
    • Home of the 100th Bomb Group (H)
  • Return to Crowne Plaza at 6:00 pm for evening on own

Saturday, June 14, 2008 – B, L**

  • Depart Crowne Plaza at  9:30 am for Memorial Celebration at The Woodman
  • Pub Lunch at Woodman Inn
  • Tour of Airfield between 2:30 and 3:30 pm
  • Depart The Woodman approx. 4:00 pm for return to Crowne Plaza for evening on own

Sunday, June 15, 2008 – B, L**

  • Depart Crowne Plaza at 10:00 am for Memorial Service at St. George’s Church, Anstey
  • Hog Roast at Woodman Inn at approx. 12:15 pm
  • Depart The Woodman by 5:00 pm for visit to Cambridge American Military Cemetery
  • Depart Cambridge American Military Cemetary at 7:00 pm to Crowne Plaza and evening on own

Monday, June 16, 2008 – B, L, D**

  • Depart Crowne Plaza at 9:00 am for drive to Bassingbourn Tower Museum
    • Home of the 91st Bomb Group (H)
    • Wartime home of the “Memphis Belle”
    • Control Tower preserved and used as museum
  • Depart Bassingbourn at 11:45 am for drive to Steeple Morden
    • Home of the 355th Fighter Squadron
  • Depart Steeple Morden at 12:15 am for drive to Imperial War Museum, Duxford
  • Lunch on own at Duxford
  • Depart IWM, Duxford at 5:30 pm for return to Crowne Plaza for Farewell Dinner

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 – B**

  • Transportation from Crowne Plaza to Heathrow for return flights home
