Comments:

  1. On a mission to Kiel, Germany, Lt. McCarty's B-17 was caught in a flak barrage which resulted in a fire. Before the pilot could tell his crew the fire was not serious, Lt. Argubright had bailed out. He perished in the Baltic Sea. The rest of the crew returned to base with the aircraft. B-17 serial# 42-102565 M.
