398th Preservation Project in England at HALS

In the early 1970s,Victor Jenkins and Malcolm (Ozzie) Osborn began collecting 398th historical documents, photos, and artifacts. Their efforts led to the creation of the Nuthampstead Airfield Research Society, a forerunner of today's UK Friends of the 398th. With Mr. Jenkins passing, his collection was given to the Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS) facility. In 2003, the 398th Bomb Group Memorial Association approved funding to the preserve and organize the collection. Below are articles which explain the 398th Preservation Project, the history of the collection, and remembrances of Vic Jenkins. It should be noted that the 398th collection at HALS now includes items other than those contributed by Vic Jenkins as many veterans and others have contributed items from their personal collections.
