The 398th was part of the 8th Air Force 1st Air Division during WWII and was one of many B-17 Bomb Groups stationed in England. The 398th was formed in the United States in 1943 and was stationed in Nuthampstead, England from April 1944 until June 1945.

As of Sunday July 25, 2021, the Museum will be OPEN again!!

Times of operation are posted below. Please be advised that the Museum Trustees require all visitors to wear a mask.

Opening times for the Nuthampstead Airfield Musuem are as follows:
April through September
Every second and last Sunday of the month. 10 am to 4 pm
By appointment. Please call 01 638 718427 at least 48 hours prior to your visit and the museum will be opened for you.

    Our 2021 Stateside reunion will be held in SAVANNAH, GEORGIA.

    The next 398th BGMA Annual Reunion will be held in Savannah, Georgia - October 27 - 31, 2021 and will be hosted by the 8th Air Force Historical Society.

    Hotel Reservation Information, Registration Instructions and Registration Form, Program Schedule and Savannah Tour Descriptions can ALL be accessed from the 8th AFHS website NOW.

  2. The official 2021 Savannah hotel is the Savannah Riverfront Marriott. Please book your room ASAP!! The rooms are going FAST!

    If you wish information regarding the 398th's part in the 2021 Eighth Air Force Historical Society's reunion, please contact Ken Howard our 398th Reunion Coordinator.

    All reunion plans are contingent on Covid restrictions at that time.

    Next Tour: "Return To Station 131" - May 2022.

    • Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 Biennial Tour was cancelled. We will commence with holding our overseas reunions in May 2022. Check back later this year for updates.
